Event Announcement 〰️
Despite increasing awareness of the mental health crisis in the United States, Black communities remain disproportionately affected by barriers to wellness access, including cost, stigma, and underrepresentation of culturally competent providers.
Access to nature and wellness resources has been shown to improve mental and physical health outcomes, yet these opportunities are rarely accessible to marginalized populations.
For the fifth year in a row, Emerge Sarasota will host its multi-day program designed to provide culturally relevant, affordable, and impactful wellness experiences to the region’s young BIPOC professionals. Formerly known as ‘Free Your Mind’ the wellness campaign has been reinvigorated for its fifth run and aims to bridge the gap between advocacy and action with Well & Wild: Getting to the Heart of Black Mental Health & Wellness in February 2025.
Taking place during Black History Month 2025, this event will highlight the healing power of nature, address health disparities, amplify Black contributions in the wellness space, and empower Black young professionals with tools to help them on their mental and physical health journey.
